"The point of marriage is not to create a quick commonality by tearing down all boundaries; on the contrary, a good marriage is one in which each partner appoints the other to be the guardian of [their] solitude, and thus, they show each other the greatest possible trust." ~Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters to a Young Poet
What to wear?
Several guests have asked about the dress code for the wedding. Silly us- we should have mentioned it sooner. What to call it? Casual Elegant?
It's a special occasion so be as elegant as you want, and be comfortable. You'll see some suits and fancy dresses but a few hawaiian shirts, too. Be ready to dance! The groom is NOT wearing a tie, even if you are. And, keep in mind the ceremony will be outside, rain or shine, so bring a coat and umbrella should the rain gods decide to visit.

Out of Town Guests
Things to do There is much to see and do in late September around Charlotte. If you are looking for things to do check out Shelburne Orchards for apple picking and Shelburne Farms for a stunning walk replete with farmyard, gardens, lakefront, and miles of trails. Saturday morning there is also the Shelburne Farmers Market, which is one of the best in the state. For the adventurous a hike up Mt Philo will provide stunning views for very little pain. We live on Mt Philo road about a half mile away, so let us know if you are headed over! The Shelburne Market has provisions and The Red Onion is a nice deli on Rte 7 in Charlotte. And, there is always the upscale Philo Ridge Farm for lunch just down road from our house as well. There is also the fun of Burlington and their waterfront!
Friday eve We are not having a formal rehearsal dinner. That said, we will be setting up for the reception at the Senior Center Friday evening after 6 pm with family and a few locals. If you are around and want to drop in to say hi we'll have pizza and snacks on hand. Please let us know you are coming by filling out the form at the link below so we are sure to order enough pizza. We'll be putting in an order with Folinos by Thursday 9/20 in the afternoon.
